Is an Intervention Appropriate for you?
There have been volumes published, aired and put on the internet about this subject. Much has been valuable, much has been misleading. This website may answer some of your questions, but there is no substitute for a one-on-one conversation.

Some professionals believe that “every alcoholic/addict should have an intervention”. Our combined 60+ years of experience with interventions does not support this claim. There can be several factors which may mitigate against doing an intervention at any given time. These can include medical/psychiatric issues, an inability to commit sufficient time, energy or finances to the process, and/or the fact that other possible efforts have not been attempted.

An intervention is a complex process with many variables. Addiction profoundly affects both the impaired person and everyone around him/her. Therefore, it is strongly advised that you consult a professional interventionist before attempting to conduct an intervention on your own.

Open Door Interventions welcomes calls to assess whether an intervention is appropriate at this time for the affected individual. If another approach is in order, a referral will be made. There is no charge for the confidential call.
