About Us
Our mission is to open the door to recovery by educating and empowering families, friends and colleagues so they can deal more effectively with the disease of addiction.

By so doing we help to create the optimal environment for the person suffering from dependence on alcohol and/or drugs to be able to accept treatment.


Bette Ann Weinstein
PhD, LCSW

Bette Ann is a nationally known clinician, trainer, teacher, consultant and interventionist in the Chemical Dependency, Mental Health and EAP fields. Since 1984 she has maintained an active psychotherapy practice in addition to teaching at Catholic University School of Social Work and Rutgers Summer School of Alcohol & Drug Studies. Dr. Weinstein conducts training seminars on chemical dependency, anxiety and depression, clinical supervision, borderline personality disorder, and structured interventions. She has published articles on denial, ethics, and a new addiction diagnostic tool. She holds a B.A. from Wheaton College in Massachusetts, an MSW from Boston University and a Ph.D. from Catholic University of America.



James F. (Jim) Emmert MHC, FACATA

After an executive career with General Motors Corporation, Jim entered the addictions field in 1972, where he developed employee intervention programs, became one of the first persons in North Carolina to be a certified counselor, developed training and education programs and went on to head up a local agency and a nationally known treatment center. He was trained in interventions in 1973 by Vernon Johnson and has been providing these services since that time. He has served on the faculty of Rutgers Summer Schools on Alcohol and Drug Studies since 1976, and is a board registered interventionist.
